Dandruff
Have dandruff?
Tried all shampoos, home remedies? Stop
itching now! Homeopathy is
the answer.
Are you suffering from
itchy scalp? Do you also have whiteflakes on your scalp? Yes, you are suffering
from Dandruff.
What is Dandruff?
Dandruff particles are
visible flakes of skin that have been continuously shed from the scalp.
It is normal to shed some dead skin flakes as
the skin is constantly renewing itself.
The new cells form in the lower layers.
They are gradually pushed to the surface as more
new cells form
beneath them.
By the time they reach the surface, the cells
have become flat and overlap each other like roof tiles.
By then, these cells are dead and are shed
from the surface all the time.
They are so small that
we do not notice this is happening.
Dandruff is not
contagious and is rarely serious, it can be embarrassing and sometimes
difficult to treat.
Why am I suffering
from Dandruff?
Skin cells that grow
and die off too fast are the problem.
Exactly why that happens is not clear.
Avery common fungus called malassezia(formerly
termed pityrosporum) may contribute to dandruff.
This fungus lives on
the scalp of most healthy adults without causing any problems.
One theory is that the
immune system of someone with dandruff may overreact to that fungus.
Dandruff may get worse
when you are in stressed. Cold, dry
winters can trigger dandruff or make it worse, too.
One common cause is
seborrheic dermatitis, or seborrhea. Some people with dandruff may also have
seborrheic dermatitis in other areas of the body, such as their ears and the
center of the face.
Symptoms:
- Itchy scalp
- visible white flakes
Difference between
Seborrhoeic dermatitis and scalp psoriasis
Dandruff definitely
needs to be differentiated from Seborrhoeic dermatitis and scalp psoriasis (Your
doctor can help you with the diagnosis).
In seborrhoeic
dermatitis redness and itching frequently occurs around the folds of the nose
and eyebrow areas, not just the scalp.
Inflammation and
extension of scaling outside the scalp exclude the diagnosis of dandruff from seborrhoeic
dermatitis.
scalp psoriasis is
much more severe than dandruff it causes raised, scaly red patches that may spread
beyond the scalp to the forehead or back of the neck or ears.
Treatment for Dandruff:
conventional
treatment: In allopathy dandruff is widely treated with antidandruff shampoos contaning
ketocanazole, antifungal shampoos, selenium sulphide (Results with these
antidandruff shampoos are temporary and one may observe recurrence ).
Homeopathic treatment:
Homeopathy works
wonders in dandruff as it doesnot treat the dandruff superficially but at the root
level targetting the root cause.
It slow downs the
abnormal multiplication of the skin scells of the scalp.
Medicines act as
immune modulators and addresses the immunological
parameters.psoriasis.
